KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club will begin their quest for a 6th IFA Shield title with a new coach at the helm in the form of Jose Hevia.
Hevia completed his first pre-match training session since joining the Black Panthers last month. The session was in preparation for his first official match of the season against Khidirpur Club on Sunday. Kickoff is at 1:30 pm at Salt Lake Stadium.
“The preparations have gone well and the training has been very good and we look forward to the match against Khidirpur.” Hevia said.
“Everybody is serious to put up a good show. I know the expectations are very high and we will think nothing less than a win when we hit the pitch tomorrow,” the gaffer continued.
Hevia maintains that despite the forthcoming I-League being more important than any other competition, winning any game will always be a priority.
“We aspire to win at all times. IFA Shield is important to us. It’s important for the confidence of the team and the supporters.” he added.
On the selection front, Hevia commented: “We will play our best possible side. The competition for places is at an all-time high at the moment. The best eleven will start on Sunday.”
