KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club and Satyam Sharma have reached an agreement to extend their relationship for further one year.
An ecstatic Satyam responded saying: “I am excited about my contract extension. I have the opportunity to continue playing for the club. All I can do to show gratitude and appreciation by continuing to work to the best of my ability.”
The 26-year-old play-maker has formed an integral part of Black Panthers setup since joining in June 2017 from ONGC FC. A vital cog in Mohammedan’s midfield, Satyam’s presence on both ends of the pitch while churning out consistent performances in the middle of the park, made him fan favourite and coach Saheed Ramon’s go-to men.
“I wish to take the team to I-League. And I think with the squad we have at the moment; we are capable of doing it. I want to give back to the club,” he added.
Mohammedan Sporting Club General Secretary Mr. Sk. Wasim Akram said the decision to hand Satyam a new contract wasn’t a tough one. “Satyam has been an important part of the Black Panthers family over three seasons and we felt it was important that we extend his stay. He has been a thorough professional, always bringing 100% to the pitch – whether it be training or games, and we are glad that we will have one more season of him at Mohammedan.”
