Mohammedan SC colts through to Oorja Cup semifinals at Siliguri

SILIGURI: Mohammedan Sporting Club juniors have booked their place into the semifinals of the Oorja Cup 2017 at Siliguri.

The colts breezed past K.U. Charitable Trust 3-0 courtesy a goal each from Uttam Mitra, Kaushik Saha and Mahitosh Biswas, that allowed Mohammedan SC passage into the last four.

India is hosting FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year, and the Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi has called for the support of not only children, but also parents to encourage boys and girls to play football and develop both skill and fitness.

In view of the appeal of the Prime Minister, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been tasked to conduct ‘Oorja Cup’ – CAPFs U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017. CAPFs jointly organizing the tournament under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board throughout the country from 1st to 15th May 2017. North Bengal Frontier Border Security Force is tasked to conduct the tournament in West Bengal.

Mohammedan SC will face  Diamond Harbour Football Academy in the second semifinal of the competition tomorrow at 3 PM in Kachenjunga Stadium, Siliguri.
