Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting Club winger Azharuddin Mallick has signed a new contract that will keep him with the Black Panthers till 2023.
The 23-year-old has the versatility to operate in the forward areas, even playing as a striker on many occasions. He also led the line to good effect whenever called upon to play that role, showcasing composure and guile on the ball.
“We are immensely delighted to have Azhar continuing his journey with us. Last season he showcased the talent he possesses, and we are excited to see him go from strength to strength in the coming campaigns.” said Mohammedan Sporting General Secretary Mr. Danish Iqbal following the welcome development.
Azhar spent his formative years at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Academy and was also part of United Sports Club’s U-19 setup. He came into the limelight during the maiden U-19 IFA Shield in 2015 where he became the top scorer and helped United SC to clinch the title. He signed for Mohun Bagan in 2015, where he spent five years, garnering valuable I-League experience. Azhar signed for Mohammedan Sporting ahead of 2020/21 I-League after turning for FC Bengaluru United in the 2020 I-League qualifier.
