KOLKATA: Pedro Manzi admits that there is an expected pressure that comes with playing for a big club like Mohammedan Sporting Club.
The former Hero I-League top scorer was signed by Mohammedan last month. Manzi didn’t quite have his tournament going until he announced himself with a brace in the final Round 1 game against Real Kashmir and has made a huge impact since, bagging 5 goals and assisting a further two from six Hero I-League appearances.
Manzi, who is one of the finest strikers in the league and one to hugely shoulder Mohammedan’s attacking burden, says he enjoys playing under pressure as it gives him an edge, while it helps to improve his game.
“Big clubs are demanding‚ we want to win every game. We are not here to sit and relax‚ we are here to win. I am thinking of the team, if I don’t score and we still win I am satisfied.” Manzi said.
“The minute I signed for Mohammedan I felt the pressure; there is so much expected of the club. But it’s sometimes nice to play with the pressure, because it means you don’t relax and it helps you to become a better player.”
“I don’t remember the last time we played without pressure. If you want to play without pressure, you have to sit at home and watch it on television. There is always pressure.” He added.
