Mohammedan slam three past ATK in U-13 Youth League

KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club U13s scored a fluent 3-0 victory over ATK to register successive wins in Kolkata Zonal Round of the 2017/18 U-13 Youth League at Netaji Sports Complex in Kamlgazi on Saturday.

Mohammedan SC who led 1-0 at half time scored through skipper Sujay Budhuk (19′ and 60′) and substitute Nabakumar Santra (69′).

With this win, Mohammedan SC have collected 6 points from their opening two fixtures and remained on top of the league table.

The Young Panthers made their intentions clear as they worked with a lively pace and dominated the match. They made into the rival half with a steady flow of passes and surged ahead near the 20th minute mark.

Winger Tapan Soren, who kept the attack on, released the ball to Sujay, who cut past a couple of ATK defenders before uncorking a firm right footer home from the edge of the box to put Mohammedan SC into the lead.

Meanwhile, ATK came close to scoring on a couple of occasions in the first half but were unable to penetrate the Mohammedan SC defense.

Mohammedan SC, on the other hand, kept up the pressure on the rival goal and created handful of scoring chances but failed to increase the lead in the first half.

ATK goalkeeper Passang Narbu Sherpa should be credited for bringing of at least four saves as he denied the strike pair of Sujay and Tapan several times.

Sujay later increased the lead for the Young Panthers in the 60th minute when he chipped the ball over the ATK custodian to find the far corner of the net.

Substitute Nabakumar then made it safe for Mohammedan SC when he guided the ball into the net from close range after receiving a pass from Bhuto Singh.

The Young Panthers would host Mohun Bagan next on 25th November at the very same ground.
